How to Sync an iPod Nano With Media Player

Getting MGTEK dopisp

Step 1

Go to the MGTEK dopisp website link in Resources.

Click Save File when prompted and select a save location.

Open Windows Explorer and find the saved program, then double-click it and select Yes to launch the installation wizard.

Configuring iPod Nano

Start up iTunes.

Plug the iPod Nano into your computer using the manufacturer-supplied USB cable.

Select the iPod icon in the Device menu in iTunes.

Click the Settings tab and check the box marked Enable disk mode.

Configuring Windows Media Player 11

Start up Windows Media Player.

Click the Rip tab twice to open the drop-down menu.

Select MP3 from the Format menu.

Select a desired bit-rate from the Bit-Rate menu. MGTEK dopisp recommends 128kbps or 192kbps.

Click the Library tab, and select Songs from the menu on the left side of the window.

Step 6

Right-click the list-view column header in the main menu and select Choose Columns. Then check the Type box and click OK. This will show you the file format of all the music in your library, allowing you to determine which of your music files will be compatible with your iPod.

Configuring Windows Media Player 12

Insert a music CD into your computer s CD drive.

Click the arrow next to the Rip Settings tab.

Select your desired bit rate from the Bit Rate menu.

Syncing with iPod

Open Windows Media Player.

Connect your iPod Nano to the computer via the USB cable.

Click the Sync tab.

Drag the music files you wish to sync to your iPod to the Sync List.

Click Start Sync when you ve finished compiling the list and allow Windows Media Player time to sync the new content to your iPod.

MGTEK dopisp is compatible with both Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Media Player 12, meaning it is compatible with both Windows Vista and Windows 7.

The MGTEK dopisp website recommends backing up your iPod and returning it to factory settings before attempting a sync. This is to prevent issues with the apps on the iPod. However, this is not a 100-percent necessary step, merely a precautionary measure.

If your iPod doesn t support disk mode, the only configuration for the iPod itself you need to worry about is backing up the data and resetting to factory settings.

Configuring your CD ripping settings allows you to tailor your music files to be compatible with iPod. By default, Windows Media Player uses the WMA format, which is incompatible with the iPod.

Warnings

Before attempting to sync, always back up your iPod Nano. This way, if something goes wrong during the sync you can restore your iPod.

Files in any Windows Media format WMA, WMV won t work on your iPod Nano, so don t try to sync them. Instead, use files in the MP3 or AAC M4A format.
